Xpeng G9L starts at 231,800 yuan and aims for global dominance
The Xpeng G9L has officially launched after a month of anticipation following its August 3 announcement and August 11 pre-sales. Xpeng President Wang Fengying is positioning this SUV as a category leader, claiming it has no global competitors at this price point.
The G9L is available in both pure electric and super-extended range versions. While the official guide price starts at 241,800 yuan, there is a limited-time cash gift of 10,000 yuan for those who paid a 5,000 yuan deposit by midnight on November 15.
Current limited-time pricing:
- 702 Pure Electric 2WD Max: 231,800 yuan
- 660 Pure Electric 4WD Ultra SE: 249,800 yuan
- 660 Pure Electric 4WD Ultra: 279,800 yuan
- 755 Pure Electric 4WD Ultra Flagship: 309,800 yuan
- 1602 Super-Extended Range 4WD Ultra SE: 249,800 yuan
- 1602 Super-Extended Range 4WD Ultra Flagship: 299,800 yuan
How does the interior space and comfort hold up?
The G9L measures 5120×1999×1782mm with a 3100mm wheelbase. It's designed as a "golden five-seater," meaning it skips the third row to maximize cargo space. The trunk offers 1152L of volume, including a 230L sunken area that fits two 20-inch suitcases.
The standout feature is the "Whole-body AI Active Fit Seats." These use 91 sensors and 27 adjustment airbags to modify the seat surface based on the passenger's body type and posture. The system has a sensing precision of 2g and a response time of 2ms, trained on 300,000 human body models to fit 98% of global users.
For the rear, there is a smart four-motor executive center island with a 360° adjustable table, a 50W wind-cooled wireless charger, and a 21.4-inch 3K entertainment screen. Ultra and Flagship trims add 270° electric sunshades for the roof and side windows.
What are the driving and hardware specs?
The G9L uses a front double-wishbone and rear H-arm multi-link suspension. Double-chamber air suspension is standard across all trims, allowing for a 70mm height adjustment. It also features rear-wheel steer-by-wire, bringing the minimum turning radius down to 5.4m.
Powertrain and Performance:
- 702 Max: 91.9kWh LFP battery, 270kW rear motor, 702km CLTC range, 0-100km/h in 6.8s.
- 660 4WD Ultra SE/Ultra: Adds a 160kW front motor for a total system power of 430kW.
- 755 4WD Ultra Flagship: 110kWh ternary lithium battery, 755km CLTC range, 0-100km/h in 4.45s.
The chassis uses 16,000-ton front and rear integrated die-casting, resulting in a torsional rigidity of 56,000N·m/deg. Xpeng also highlighted extreme capabilities: 700mm emergency wading (with 5-minute emergency floating), 122km/h stability in rain, and 180km/h stability during a tire blowout.
How does the XOS 6.3.0 intelligence work?
The new XOS 6.3.0 introduces a long-sequence architecture to the VLA, allowing the car to use visual information from the previous 30 seconds to make current decisions. The X-Foresight world model predicts future movements of pedestrians and vehicles for smoother urban navigation.
The "Master Agent" now coordinates the cockpit and chassis, enabling voice-controlled pulling over and nearby parking. A new "head-in" parking feature allows the car to park facing forward, making it easier to load luggage from the rear.
Computing Power (Turing AI Chips):
- 702 Max: 1 chip (750 TOPS) running Turing VLA 2.0 Lite.
- 660 4WD Ultra SE: 2 chips (1500 TOPS).
- 660/755 Ultra/Flagship: 3 chips (2250 TOPS).
Xpeng plans to launch the G9L in nearly 70 countries. Right-hand drive versions are already rolling off the Guangzhou line, with a European debut planned for the Paris Motor Show in October and production split between Guangzhou and the Magna factory in Graz, Austria.

I want to try this tonight. My current EV range is a joke compared to 702km, but does the G9L actually hit that?
This burned me on my last ride. My old car's range dropped 30% in winter, so I wonder if this handles cold...

Curious if the 800V architecture actually holds up during fast charging. Does it drop off after 80% or stay steady?
