Chery's new Fengyun T7 might actually change how we look at
Pricing is aggressive, starting at 94,900 RMB (with trade-in incentives) for the 600km range version. Here is the breakdown of the three tiers available:
- 600km Joy Edition: 97,900 RMB (94,900 RMB with trade-in)
- 600km Comfort Edition: 108,900 RMB (105,900 RMB with trade-in)
- 600km Intelligence Edition: 118,900 RMB (115,900 RMB with trade-in)
What caught my eye isn't just the price, but the fact that they didn't "cheat" on the base model. Usually, manufacturers give you a smaller battery or shorter range on the entry-level trim to hit that low price point. With the T7, every single version gets the 65.05kWh Rhino battery and the same 600km CLTC range. They are also packing a 178kW motor and the Kunpeng electric drive system across the board, boasting a 90.8% efficiency rate.

The "Safety First" Strategy
The real differentiator here is the "insurance" Chery is offering. They are making a massive claim: if the battery undergoes thermal runaway due to internal issues, they will compensate the owner with a brand-new vehicle of the same model or better.
Even more interesting is the smart driving coverage. For the first year of ownership, if an accident occurs while using the intelligent driving assistance systems (and it's determined to be the system's fault), the compensation for personal injury or third-party damage can go up to 5 million RMB. That is a huge level of accountability for a vehicle in this price bracket.

To back this up, they aren't just talking; they've run a massive real-world testing program. They used 81 dedicated test vehicles to cover over 6 million kilometers globally—testing everything from cobblestone streets in Mexico to high-speed curves in Germany and muddy unpaved roads in South Africa. This "global car" approach means the chassis and battery protection (which uses a 31-layer "6D chainmail" structure) are built to meet the 2026 E-NCAP five-star standards.
Intelligence and Tech Specs
If you step up to the top-tier Intelligence Edition, the tech stack gets a serious boost:

- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8755 cockpit-driving integrated chip.
- ADAS: Falcon 500 system using 3 mmWave radars, 7 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
- Capabilities: Supports multi-floor parking, 100m reverse following, and highway pilot assistance.
- Connectivity: Lingxi Smart Cabin 2.0 (which integrates the Doubao LLM) plus wireless CarPlay, HiCar, and CarLink.
It's a solid package. While the market is definitely crowded, seeing a manufacturer move away from just "spec-warring" and toward actual liability-backed safety guarantees is a refreshing shift in the AI-driven automotive workflow. It moves the conversation from "how many pixels does the screen have" to "how much do you actually trust the hardware."
