Claude Voice Mode: Now Supporting Opus and Sonnet

Haiku was great for quick pings, but it lacked the reasoning depth needed for actual business logic. Anthropic just rolled out voice mode support for Opus and Sonnet, which effectively turns the voice interface from a simple Q&A tool into a legitimate AI workflow partner.

The shift is pretty significant because users were already trying to force Haiku to handle complex problem-solving, which it isn't really built for. By bringing the heavier models into the voice layer, you can now actually "think out loud" with the LLM on high-stakes tasks without the model losing the plot or giving overly simplistic answers.

Beyond the model upgrade, the integration is expanding into the actual tools where work happens—specifically Gmail, Slack, and Canva. This moves the interaction from a standalone chat window into a more integrated LLM agent experience.
