DEV.to needs a one-tap translation toggle for comments to actually feel global

Spending a huge amount of time in the review queues and comment sections as a Trusted Member gives me a pretty specific perspective on where DEV.to hits the mark and where it misses. There are a few things I'm desperate for the team to build, and a few things I'm glad they haven't touched.

What would actually make the platform better?

A one-tap translation toggle for threads.
I play a mobile game called War Sniper 3D, and their clan chats have this brilliant little button next to every message. You tap it, and the text translates into your language instantly. It lets everyone speak their native tongue without breaking the flow of conversation. Right now, if someone leaves a comment in German or Hindi, most English speakers just skip it. Adding a tiny translate button to comments and posts would stop so much great global content from being invisible.

Public edit histories.
Currently, if you edit a post, the change is invisible to the reader. Fixing a typo is one thing, but if a writer corrects a code snippet or walks back a claim, the reader should be able to see the diff. A public revision history would add a layer of accountability without adding any extra work for the author.

Better series discovery.
Once you're actually reading a series, the navigation is great—the widgets at the top and bottom of posts make it easy to move between parts. The problem is finding a series in the first place. You can't search for a series by name, and there's no browse page or tab for them. The dedicated series pages are basically empty, containing just a list of cards with no descriptions. Since the platform encourages multi-part work, we need a "Series" tab in the Discover feed. Right now, a series only gets views if the first link happens to go viral; it shouldn't rely entirely on luck.

Opt-in push notifications.
I actually love the current email logic: if you don't respond to a comment within about five minutes, the email triggers. It prevents your inbox from becoming a firehose while you're actively chatting. However, I'd love an actual system alert or lock-screen push notification for those times I'm away from my email but want to know someone replied right now. Keeping the "quiet-by-default" setting for everyone while letting power users opt into instant pushes would be the perfect balance.

Which features should they avoid?

While the "wish list" is long, there are a few things that could easily clutter the experience. The goal should be maintaining the clean, community-driven feel without over-engineering the social layer. Keeping the focus on high-quality technical exchange rather than gamifying every single interaction is key to keeping the signal-to-noise ratio high.
