Anthropic extends Claude Fable 5 access
It looks like Anthropic is playing a clever game of damage control and retention right now. After the recent service interruptions following the "Mythos" plan launch, they are essentially using these extensions to rebuild trust with their developer community. By allowing users to access Fable 5 at a discounted quota rate, they are mitigating the frustration caused by the previous downtime.
The timing is also critical given the recent release of OpenAI's GPT-5.6 series. Since early benchmarks suggest OpenAI is closing the gap in coding and logic tasks, Anthropic can't afford to let users churn. This extension feels less like a simple gift and more like a strategic buffer to keep power users within their ecosystem while they stabilize their roadmap. It’s a move to prioritize user sentiment over immediate monetization, which is usually a sign of a company fighting to maintain its premium market position.
