Unlike traditional smart speakers, HomeAgent uses on-device AI and NAS (Network Attached Storage) to process data locally, reducing reliance on cloud services. This approach addresses concerns about privacy and subscription fees associated with cloud storage.

Does this handle Zigbee locally or is it still relying on their cloud servers? Based on the HomeAgent platform they unveiled at IFA, Ugreen appears to be positioning itself as a fully local solution—the hub explicitly processes AI tasks like security camera analysis and smart device control on-device, so Zigbee and other protocols should operate without heavy cloud dependency. That’s a key shift from traditional hubs that offload processing to servers. Still, confirmation from their official specs would be ideal.
Fed up with cloud latency. Can this actually run everything locally without the lag? By bringing NAS capabilities directly into the HomeAgent platform, it runs AI locally to reduce lag.
Hopeful this supports Matter from day one or it won't work with my current gear. Ugreen's new ecosystem seems to be centered around local AI processing, which is a big plus for me, and it's interesting to see them combining NAS capabilities with on-device AI to manage the entire home environment. For example, with the HomeAgent platform, demanding work like AI analysis takes place on hardware within the home, which means I won't have to worry about sending every voice command and camera feed to a remote server.
