Ollama Cloud: Stuck on Phone Verification

Getting an "Invalid phone number" or simply never receiving the SMS code during Ollama Cloud signup is a frustrating bottleneck, especially when you're just trying to get a subscription sorted. I've been hitting a wall with this where the verification message never arrives, and after a few attempts, the system just flags the number entirely.

The specific issue is that the SMS gateway seems to be dropping requests for certain carriers or regions. I tried the standard "wait and retry" method, but it eventually led to a hard error stating the number couldn't be verified, effectively locking me out of the account creation process.

Diagnosis and Attempted Fixes

I tried a few different angles to bypass this, as it's clearly not a typo on my end:

1. Browser Cache/Incognito: Cleared everything and tried a private window to rule out session cookies. No change.
2. Alternative Network: Switched from Wi-Fi to mobile data to see if it was an IP-based trigger. Still no SMS.
3. Timing: Waited 24 hours before trying again to see if a rate limit had been triggered. The error persisted immediately upon entering the number.

The most annoying part is the lack of feedback from support. I sent an email detailing the issue, but it's been radio silence. Since Ollama is primarily known for local LLM deployment, their cloud infrastructure's onboarding process feels a bit clunkier than the actual software.

If anyone has managed to bypass the phone verification loop or knows if there's a specific format (like adding/removing the country code manually) that actually triggers the SMS, I'm all ears. For now, it's a complete blocker for moving my AI workflow to their hosted service.

Frustrating! It took me three different carriers before that code finally showed up.

Curious if a VOIP number works or if it strictly requires a physical SIM.

Frustrating! Does anyone know if a physical SIM from a different region works for this?

Try an incognito window or a different browser. That fixed the phone verification for me.
